Britney for X Factor?

Britney Spears could be a judge on the next series of the American X Factor. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the singer’s agent, Jason Trawick, who also happens to be her fiance, is in negotiations with Simon Cowell about a deal. The fee is rumoured to be in the region of $10 million. Which is a very nice region.

The X Factor is in urgent need of an overhaul Stateside. Judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger will not be returning for the next series, which leaves 2 vacancies on the judging panel alongside Cowell and the Epic Records boss LA Reid.

Cowell hasn’t given specifics as yet, but did say "there's going to be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we're going to announce". He has confirmed that the new judges will both be female.

Cowell talked about Spears in a recent radio interview. "The fact that she's still one of the most talked-about, not just popstars, but people, in the world today means that you've got this star power," he said. "This girl's got resilience and the fact that she's still hot, she's still having hit records and she's still controversial. . . there's a reason for that."

She may be the name to revive the X Factor brand in the USA after it struggled to match the ratings of rival show American Idol last year. It suffered from a difficult launch after the controversial sacking of Cheryl Cole.
