When you've funded, produced and starred in a film, the reaction of critics and filmgoers is fairly important. So Brad Pitt must have been more than a little miffed at the reception to his new film, 'Tree of Life' at Cannes. The movie, starring Pitt and Sean Penn, and is directed by art-house darling Terence Malick was booed and cheered in equal measure after its Premiere.
Brad told The Daily Mail,'I think about everything I do now my kids are going to see when they grow up and how are they going to feel but they know me as a dad and I hope they'll just think of me as a pretty damn-good actor.'
Daily Mail critic Baz Bamingboye wrote, 'The film's not a flop by any means. It's a visual sensation...It's not the worst movie ever made but it is a lumbering mess.' While Variety stated, 'This inescapably divisive picture could captivate the zeitgeist for a spell.' Er, that's not really expressing a view either way, though is it, Variety? The Hollywood Reporter also plumped for the 'divided' line, saying, 'A unique film that will split opinions every which way.'
