Australian PM brands Gordon Ramsay a 'low-life'

Gordon Ramsay has been branded "a new form of low-life" by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. The comments come in the wake of an incident in which the celebrity chef slagged off Aussie TV presenter Tracy Grimshaw.

While appearing at a food fair in Sydney last Saturday, Ramsay is alleged to have called Grimshaw an "ugly old pig" before branding the popular journalist a lesbian. The foul mouthed chef had been interviewed by Ms. Grimshaw on the the Nine Network's A Current Affair program the night before his outburst.

The popular Australian journo has since described Ramsay as an "arrogant narcissist" and a "bully" while Rudd also gave his two cents worth today.

"All I could describe his remarks as reflecting is a new form of low-life," the PM said. "I just think that's off, and offensive. Good on Tracy Grimshaw for coming out and giving him a left upper cut."

Ramsay, who is currently on a promotional tour of Australia, has claimed that he was only joking and that his comments were taken out of context. But it doesn't look like he'll be asked around to the PM's house for a barbie anytime soon.

Check out Gordon's grovelling apology - is there a touch of irony?
