Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel's 14-year-long marriage has come to an end and the two actors have officially separated "by mutual agreement", as confirmed by the actress' press office. Italian beauty Bellucci and French bad boy Cassel met in 1996 on the set of 'The Apartment', got married in 1999 and moved to sunny Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2012 with their two daughters, Deva and Léonie, born respectively in 2004 and 2010.

A year ago la Bellucci made an eyebrow-raising declaration that, back then, was put down to her fondness for salaciously suggestive statements that so perfectly fit the femme fatale reputation she had carefully built for herself over the years. She told the Italian press:

"I don't believe in being faithful, I believe in love. I don't want to know, I don't make calls to find out. All I'm interested in is love, after all, it's better not to ask. What matters is love, full stop. Knowing that that person is going to be there for you, if you need it. But I believe much less in being faithful, I mean, I believe more in the faithfulness of the heart rather than of the flesh. Sexually betraying your partner is less terrible. [...] I take one day at the time, relationships either work or don't work, and there's no way to know how long they are going to last."

In the light of the shock announcement of a possible imminent divorce, her statement seems now more sibylline than ever. In addition, rumour has it that the reason behind the breakup is indeed faithfulness-related: according to Azerbaijani website Haqqin.az the blossoming romance (which allegedly goes back as far as 2009) between the hot brunette and 57-year-old magnate Telman Ismailov is really to blame for the split.
