A tale of two bands

Two reunions – two very different stories. While Led Zeppelin wowed a packed-out 02 arena with the likes of Kate Moss in the audience, the Spice Girl’s played to a half-empty stadium in Las Vegas, cheered on by WAG Colleen McLoughlin. Not only was the Led Zeppelin concert packed, people were also prepared to pay way over the asking price for the tickets to see Led Zeppelin, one man even paying £86,000 in a charity auction. (He could’ve had ’em in his living room for that!)

So why was the Led Zeppelin comeback so much more successful than the Spice Girls? With critics using such phrases like “kick-ass revival that rocked over two hours” for the rockers’ show, and “embarrassing” and “lacklustre” for the Spices, need we ask more? Perhaps it’s something to do with the fact that the Spice Girls are five not very talented women who made themselves famous by appealing to eight-year old girls. Led Zeppelin, on the other hand, are talented individuals who created their legendary status through a plethora of great records spanning decades. The Spice Girls vs Led Zeppelin – no contest really.
