16-year-old quits school to play Guitar Hero

Brilliant, here’s a great example of someone with a humorous name and some really rubbish parenting that might make you feel a bit better about yourself. 16-year-old Blake Peebles has been allowed to drop out of school to, get this, concentrate solely on getting really good at playing that Guitar Hero game.

So far it appears he’s won a truly worthwhile bounty. He’s managed to bag goodies such as gift certificates, gaming equipment and best of all, some chicken sandwiches. So it looks like his decision seems to be paying off eh?

His parents let him drop out of his school in Raleigh, North Carolina because they got tired of him going on about wanting to play the game. "We couldn't take the complaining anymore. He always told me that he thought school was a waste of time," his mother Hunter Peebles told The News & Observer. We know, that is a particularly responsible attitude to have.

Young Blake has big dreams to become a professional game-player who supposedly can get paid up to £80,000 a year. But the gamers on that kind of money aren't exactly common.

So there you go, that’s what the aspirations amount to amongst the young nowadays. They can’t even be bothered to be real rock stars any more. They just want to bang a piece of plastic at a screen.
